Line was a quarter mile long 20 minutes before they opened. Then they refer me to CHP for a vin verification, who's ealiest available appointment is August 20th. If someone was trying to pay me every year, I imagine I would try and make it easy for them. Anybody got any good DMV tricks, tips, stories...?

One crisp sunny morning last spring, my boyfriend and I were trying to get to the SF DMV before they opened, to avoid said quarter mile long line, when my bf's bsa ran out of gas mid-wiggle. Fortunately I was on my trusty scrambler and he was able to dart to the nearest gas station to procure a small gas tank for re-fueling! So much for showing up early...

I'm in El Cerrito. I called CHP for Vin check. They gave a 10 week away opening so I call El Cerrito PD. Two guys showed up, one uniform and one plain clothes. They were at my house in 10 minutes. They had no idea what they were looking at (1964 Triumph). The one guy got out his iphone and tried to google "Triumph Motorcycle Vin number". No luck on that search. They tripped out on the lack of numbers on a vin. So they called a motorcylce cop over to check it out. He asked where I stole it, I said I didn't and he filled out the form. Went down to the DMV put the form in the drop box and 10 weeks later I get a CA title. Me and dumb luck get along real good.
